[ Early Life and Education ]
Born and raised in Agege, Lagos State, Abdul-Ganiyu Vinod Obasa has remained deeply connected to his community and its aspirations. He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, and a Master's degree in Accounting and Finance from Aston University, Birmingham, United Kingdom.
He is an Affiliate Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and is presently pursuing a Doctoral degree in Accounting and Finance at Babcock University, Ogun State, Nigeria.
[ Professional and Entrepreneurial Career ]
Mr Obasa commenced his professional career at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in 2017, where he gained exposure to auditing, financial advisory, and strategic consulting. He subsequently joined Providus Bank Limited, before moving to Parallex Bank Limited, where he rose to become Head of Performance Management and Strategy.
In 2022, he voluntarily resigned from paid employment to pursue entrepreneurship full-time. As Chief Executive Officer of Kings Sports International, he has overseen diverse investments across real estate, oil and gas, agriculture, and financial services.
[ Sports and Youth Development ]
A passionate advocate of youth development through sports, Mr Obasa is the Founder of VINOD Football Academy (VINOD FA), a fast-growing football institution in Agege devoted to nurturing young talent and providing them with opportunities to excel locally and internationally.
He also serves as the Chairman of the Lagos State Mini-Football Association and sits on the Executive Board of the Nigerian Mini-Football Association.
[ Political and Governance Journey ]
Mr Obasa was elected as the Vice Chairman of Agege Local Government Area in July 2025, serving under Chairman Hon. Tunde Azeez. Following the chairman's medical leave, Mr Obasa was appointed Acting Chairman by the Agege Legislative Council in August 2025. Upon Hon. Tunde Azeez's formal resignation in November 2025, the Legislative Council unanimously confirmed Abdul-Ganiyu Vinod Obasa as the substantive Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government Area.

As Executive Chairman, Mr Obasa has articulated a clear governance vision anchored on Transparency, Accountability, Inclusivity, and Sustainable Development. His administration prioritises:
Youth empowerment through sports, entrepreneurship, and vocational training.
Infrastructure development, including road rehabilitation, market modernisation, and environmental sanitation.
Education and social welfare, ensuring improved access to learning and community healthcare.
Institutional reforms to strengthen administrative efficiency and promote public trust in local governance.

[ About the Community ]
History
Agege is a historic town that traces its roots to the Awori clan of the Yoruba people. Originally a farming settlement, it grew rapidly during the colonial period as Lagos expanded northward. The area became known for its bustling market, railway station, and vibrant commercial corridor.
Geography
Agege LGA covers approximately 8 km² in the north-western part of Lagos State, bordered by Ifako-Ijaiye LGA to the north and west, and Alimosho LGA to the east. The LGA has 7 wards with distinct communities spread across a dense urban fabric.
LGA Structure
Agege LGA is administered by an Executive Chairman supported by a Vice Chairman, Council Secretary, and 7 Ward Councilors representing wards A through G. The LGA delivers services across health, education, infrastructure, revenue, and civic administration.
